Dear Yuletide Writer

Hello! It's my first ever Yuletide, and I'm so excited to be taking part. I am
spacegandalf (my default pseud is facingthenorthwind, and if you're writing me a treat please gift it there!). I know that I write mostly HP and uhhh I don't think any of the fandoms I've written for are Yuletide-eligible this year, womp womp, but I have a few bookmarks that might help and failing that, you might find it helpful at least to get an idea of the tropes and such I enjoy? Feel free to give all that up as impossible, I realise my existing body of work is not very useful here! (A note if you're looking at my ao3: The Jacket Bar was a crack crossover featuring many fandoms I am actually not at all familiar with, except for Penumbra and Welcome to Night Vale.)

I am open to crossovers (see +here for a list of fandoms I'm familiar with) and interactive fiction. All my character requests are OR requests. Obviously, Optional Details Are Optional and if none of my prompts/ideas light a fire in your heart, feel free to disregard!

Anne of Green Gables
Requested Characters: Anne Shirley, Gilbert Blythe, Diana Barry

Why I love this fandom: I love Anne's wholehearted love for everything, I love how much Gilbert Blythe loves her, I love how ambiguously queer her relationship with Diana is, I love the found family aspect with Anne and the Cuthberts. I'm much more familiar with the first three books and would prefer if you stuck to those/didn't include lots of details from the later ones. I love Avonlea, and would love a fic set there.

Prompts/ideas: AU where Anne/Diana happens, perhaps? Anne/Diana, Anne/Gilbert or Diana/Anne/Gilbert are all wonderful (but if the Anne/Diana is happening while either party is married, I'd like it to be with the permission of any husbands!). Also, hear me out on this one: what if Gilbert Blythe were a girl. Trans or cis, either would be a wonderful story to explore! Nonbinary/genderqueer Anne is also welcome, but not necessary. If you go for queerness, I would totally welcome Avonlea reactions to it or perhaps the mentoring of a baby queer. If you'd rather not go for the queerness, I would love something about how much Gilbert is just so extremely gone for Anne Shirley. Is it before Anne came around? After? Maybe it's outsider POV of people being sorry for him? Or is it people being happy about Gilbert who cannot stop telling people he's engaged to Anne Shirley? (The bit in House of Dreams where he keeps finding opportunities to call her his wife??? Kills the man.)


Anne with an E
Requested Characters: Josephine Barry.

Why I love this fandom: I love this different take on Anne, especially the way it explores the darker side of canon with Anne's horrible (but glossed over in the books) backstory. Also I LOVEEEE the canonical queerness of Josephine. I haven't seen Season Three yet as of writing, though perhaps I will by the time assignments go out!

Prompts/ideas: I am just SO taken with the canonical queerness in this canon. What was Josephine's past like? Does she mentor baby queers often? Has she run into any problems, being so open about it? Please don't ship Josephine with any intergenerational ships, thank you!


Arden
Requested Characters: Bea Casely, Brenda Bentley

Why I love this fandom: canon! queer! ladies!!!! I love their banter/the enemies to friends dynamic, I love the pastiche of true crime and the way they lampshade things like journalistic integrity and the morality of digging up cold cases etc., I love the competence of Rosalind and the...Andy Wheyface-ness of Andy Wheyface.

Prompts/ideas: Yeah yeah Brenda doesn't date coworkers but also: what if she did. Post-canon, during canon, whatever! I'm also totally open to AUs -- what would Bea/Brenda look like in a different context? The world's most unlikely jaeger team? Hogwarts students? (Or my ultimate weakness: post-hogwarts!!!) What if Brenda were still on the force? Anywhere you want to take these two, pretty much!
